hello
Welcome!
I’m Josh, and I’ve been passionate about photography since using one of my first mobile phones for a school art project. I soon discovered the joy of capturing the world around me, a curiosity that led me to my first dedicated camera - a Sony compact - which travelled with me on a holiday to St. Malo, France.
I remember the thrill of observing that city through my lens, discovering new perspectives in everything from grand historic buildings to humble shop signs. For me, photography became far more than just capturing pictures - it evolved into a way of seeing the world differently. A print of those early photos still hangs on the wall in my parents’ house, a reminder of where this journey began.
Fast forward to early 2024, and I was facing one of the toughest struggles with my mental health in years. I felt adrift, questioning my sense of purpose in life. For the past decade, I had poured my energy into endurance sports - open-water swimming, long-distance cycling, ultra-marathons - but I had begun to wonder why I was investing so much in these endeavours.
Yet, over years of running and cycling, one thing had remained constant: the joy of capturing the beauty of the landscapes and environments I passed through.
One evening, in February 2024, I was out on my bike when the sky exploded with the most spectacular sunset. I pulled off the road and captured a few frames on my phone. If you scroll to the bottom of my Instagram, you’ll find one of those photos - it was the first I ever posted!
Soon afterwards, I decided to fully commit to photography, a passion I had held for decades but never truly devoted myself to. Looking back, it was one of the best decisions of my life. Photography has given me a renewed sense of purpose, an outlet for discovering new perspectives of the world, and, above all, a truly powerful way to connect with other people.
Now, I’m excited to share my work here and see where this journey takes me next!
Thanks for reading - feel free to get in touch, I’d love to hear from you!
